
Rome Mayor Gualtieri attended the iftar of the Islamic Cultural Center of Italy

President Roberto Gualtieri of the Italian Parliament visited the Great Mosque in Rome to engage with Muslim leaders and participate in their iftar feast. The Chairman of the Italian Islamic Cultural Center, Naim Nasrollah, the Secretary General Abdullah Redouane, and the Imam of the Great Mosque, Nader Akkad, shared information about their center’s activities with the President. He also visited the library and conference hall of the mosque before joining the Muslims who were breaking their fast with dates and water during the evening call to prayer. After the prayer, the iftar was started, and Nasrollah expressed his pleasure in hosting the President.
In his address, Gualtieri expressed his excitement in being with the Muslims, witnessing their prayers and faith, in this important moment of iftar. He praised the Great Mosque of Rome as an «extraordinary monument» and emphasized the significant contributions made by the Muslim community to the socio-cultural and economic life of Rome. With this visit, President Gualtieri highlighted the importance of interfaith dialogue and understanding between different communities. Such visits serve as a reminder that despite our differences in tradition and culture, we can find unity in our shared experiences of faith and hope.
