Tekbaş was diagnosed with ‘Devic’s Syndrome’ six years ago, in which the spinal cord and eye nerves are impaired in the immune system. Ercan Tekbaş, who suffered from Devic’s Disease, which is a kind of muscle disease, and started to be unable to walk after a seizure, completely lost many of his body functions despite being treated for a long time. Stating that only 7 people in Turkey like him have Devic’s disease, Tekbaş said, «I am calling for help from the statesmen, businessmen and philanthropists to help me recover a little bit so that I can continue my life,» and asked for help to continue his financial difficulties and to continue his treatment abroad.

Ercan Tekbaş’s wife, Ayten Tekbaş, said in a statement, «My wife’s life changed overnight, we did not know what to do and how to serve in the first place, but now we are used to it. Thank God for this state of my wife. I look at her like my eyes.»

Ayça Tekbaş, the only child of the house, who did not leave her father for a moment, said, “I cannot express my love for my father in words. I want help from the authorities to get better as soon as possible,” she said.
