The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Samih Shukri, is set to arrive in Turkey today, April 13, for an official visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. The visit is aimed at discussing bilateral relations and regional developments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the two ministers will have meetings to discuss issues of mutual interest and to enhance cooperation in various areas. Leaders from both countries are expected to discuss ways to strengthen trade, defense and security, and counterterrorism efforts. Discussions about regional developments, especially in the Middle East and North Africa, are also likely to feature prominently in the meetings.

Minister Şukri’s last visit to Turkey was on February 27 when he visited to express his condolences and solidarity after the devastating earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. Egypt also sent crucial humanitarian aid to Turkey to help the victims of the earthquakes. Following his visit, Çavuşoğlu reciprocated the visit by going to Egypt on March 18.

During Çavuşoğlu’s visit, both countries pledged to work towards a closer partnership and economic relationship. The Turkish foreign minister became the first foreign minister to visit Egypt from Turkey after 11 years, and the meeting underscored the importance of the two countries’ strategic partnership.

The visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister to Turkey is a further indication of the strong ties between the two nations. It is expected to reaffirm the commitment to cooperation and to deepen the relationship between the two countries.
