Beşiktaş President Çebi Gets 28-Day Sentence for Deprivation of Rights

Ahmet Nur Çebi, the president of Turkish football club Beşiktaş, has been given a 28-day deprivation of rights and a fine of 66,500 liras by the Turkish Football Federation’s (TFF) Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK). The punishment was imposed for Çebi’s unsportsmanlike behavior and statements about the referee and other officials during matches.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe manager Selahattin Baki has been given a 21-day deprivation of rights and a fine of 50,000 liras for his unsportsmanlike actions and statements about the referees during matches. Fenerbahçe was fined 250,000 liras for ugly and bad cheering, and an additional 200,000 liras for the manager’s statements, totaling 450,000 liras.

Trabzonspor, VavaCars Fatih Karagümrük, and MKE Ankaragücü have also been fined between 175,000 and 190,000 liras each for ugly and bad cheering. Yukatel Kayserispor and Fraport TAV Antalyaspor were fined 50,000 and 56,000 liras, respectively, due to field events.

The PFDK also blocked the passolig cards of some fans from Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe for the outside match, and some fans from MKE Ankaragücü and VavaCars Fatih Karagümrük for home matches.

Recently, Ahmet Nur Çebi criticized the TFF’s decision regarding Gaziantep FK and Atakaş Hatayspor’s withdrawal from Spor Toto Super League. He claimed that the decision was made considering the situation of Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, and said that they «took the table in front of them» and «made this decision thinking that Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray would be positively affected.» He also criticized the referee management in their match against Fenerbahçe, saying that they «played the Fenerbahce match not 11 vs 10, but 10 vs 14.»

The PFDK’s punishments reflect a growing concern over unsportsmanlike behavior in Turkish football, and highlight the need for players, managers, and fans to respect the rules and regulations of the sport.
